1972 Suburban
Found this rough old truck sitting in a horse boarding place in the middle of nowhere with a little for sale sign on it. Aside from the obvious rust issues it really rides and drives quite nice. Someone shoehorned a 455 olds into it. Rides down the road real nice. Lotta cool stuff, front/rear air, power front disc, power steer, even a trenz billet grill and some 17" centerlines that I havent seen since 1985. Heck even a nice in dash CD player.
Scored it cheap, might be a crew cab shortbox soon. I don't know. Ive got 3 other burbs dont really want to start on another one, but they are so hard to pass up. http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imag...yz/72burb5.JPG http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imag...yz/72burb7.JPG http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imag...z/72burb15.JPG |

Re: 1972 Suburban
its funny you should mention it, this thing ran perfect until it ran out of gas 6 miles from my house, which is why its on a trailer i had to go back and trailer it home. i took it straight to a gas station to fill up right after i bought it and all the gas leaked right out of it, after further inspection the rubber hose that connects the filler tube to the inlet on the tank are two different sizes, the filler neck side is standard size probably 1.5" and the tank side is much smaller probably 1" or so. i cant see it but just by feel, much smaller not allowing the hose to clamp up tight enogh on the tank end to seal it off tight enough not to leak. is this common, for them to be 2 different sizes??? also the gas tank is plastic like a fuel cell. im baffled because the tank looks absolutely stock, it fits in there like its always been there, everythign looks stock. but i didnt think any of these old trucks had plastic tanks?? any ideas??

Re: 1972 Suburban
thanks frizzle that is exactly what it is....i mentiojned a plastic tank to some friends of mine they all thought i was losing it. ....and sorry i dont have any lift gates....if i come across anything i will sure let you know. someones put some love into this old girl, its kind of a shame the body is so rough or id prolly be mroe excited about it...haha....drop springs, 20s and flat black might just be the trick for a quick driver, repair rust as time allows..section at a time....

Looks like a good one to me. Not sure about the filler hose. Does the air work?
