Long Tube Headers???

I have a 1970 Chevy C20 and wanted to put a set of cheap ceramic coated headders on my truck and was wondering what part numbers would fit in there? I have a built 355 that is in there now and need a pritty decent size primary tube...im thinking 1.75" Anyone have any ideas. THanks

Re: Long Tube Headers???

Don't use cheap and ceramic coated headers in the same sentence. They don't exist, unless maybe their used.. If your talking about the one in your sig, use either 1 1/2 or 1 5/8 headers.

Dynomax, Hookers, Doug Thorleys

Re: Long Tube Headers???

No its a different motor making about 525 horsepower. So I need a set with a good size primary. I just dont want to spend like $500 on a set of headers thats all. THanks

Re: Long Tube Headers???

you can keep it down to around 300 if you keep it at 1 5/8. but as soon as you cross into the 1 3/4 headers they know you have hp and charge you a couple hundred more, I think it is a communist plot!!

What are the specs on that motor??? Building 525hp out of a 350 could not have been cheap. I definitely wouldn't go cheap now. That must be a wild ride!

Try sanderson www.headers.com Real quality and a real decent price. Check out the cc3 small block headers you'll love them. I recently installed a set of coated QP2100 on my '72 454. They have 3/4" flanges and look soo old school...

Summit brand coated headers are reboxed Dynomax brand. They have nice JetHot coating and run 190 a set. Only 1 5/8 though. I bought a set a few years ago and like them a lot.

All of that engine and you want to cheap-out on the exhaust?

:agree:

I also wouldn't run the pink rods with that combo. They're just heat-treated stock rods and not sufficient for that much compression. Nor are they sufficient for the horsepower you are aiming for. You're putting in a $120 set of rods with a $300 camshaft?? Even a set of eagle I beam (SIR) rods would be a huge improvement over the pink rods. Have you dynoed this motor? Because 525 out of a 355 engine is mighty ambitious. Most of the 500+ hp 350's prove out to be merely 400+ hp (which is nothing to sneeze at).

Not trying to insult here, just pointing out some realities.
