Finished Sound-Deading

2 Attachment(s)
This thing better be quiet. I put two layers of damping material on the floorboard and rear panel. A layer on the inside of the door skins and on the firewall and all up under the dash when I redid the whole interior. It made a big difference in the door. Just closing the door you get a solid sound.
Just wondering something....I have Headman longtube elite headers. Even ater all these layers and the carpet I am getting readings (from a laser thermometer) of about 100-110 degrees on the floor board, is that about right? Do long tubes make that much heat....I hate to see what the temp was without anything but jude mat and carpet.

What kind of sound deadener is that?

Re: Finished Sound-Deading

Are you taking the temp readings off the sound matting or the bare floor? I've found that laser temp guns do not work well on a reflective surface. Will not give a correct temp.

Half Brown Bread half RAAMmat BXT. I was taking a reading off the reflective surface. But I did take the truck for a drive and I did not have seats in them so I sat directly on the carpet, and you could definately feel the heat after awhile.

sound deadening does very little in the way of thermal insulating ...

YOU SPENT SOME CASH!!!

That stuff is expensive though, no joke.

I'd at least like to do my doors.

I am thinking of using this in place of my missing A/C box on my firewall inside to get noise damper and heat control...then just some of the other in the doors. My carpet does a fairly good job. I think I got into the ACC before they went to pot or something.

Formula, don't mean to hi jack thread..3 rolls did 1 layer. When I get some buckets I may do another layer because it was so cheap. I can notice a heat reduction from engine and the exhaust note from inside has demished significantly. Very Pleased.

its basically made of the same material as most of the sound deadners on the Aftermarket. Iso-butryual (first thing popped in my head, so prob wrong there) is what it is made out of.

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...17-81326-PS625

its main purpose is to go on roofs to seal vents and what not.
