Ever seen these before?
2 Attachment(s)
parting out a 69 1 ton and pulled the guage cluster and there was a clamp type thingy on the end of the speedo. The threads weren't stripped, so why would this be on there? Then on the tranny, there's this blue canister hooked to the vacuum line, I think, what is that for? Thanks.

Re: Ever seen these before?
The cable thing may be a repaired cable... a generic length that you chop to size, then clamp on the end.
That's just a guess. The deal on the tranny... that looks like a huge vac modulator to me. |
Re: Ever seen these before?
Agreed on the speedo cable and the tranny looks like an auxilery filter if I had to guess.

Re: Ever seen these before?
:agree: a huge vac modulator

Re: Ever seen these before?
Older original style vacuum modulator on the turbo 400. Pretty common, but most were painted black.

Re: Ever seen these before?
400 turbo behind a 292, must be common on 1 tons. thanks!

Re: Ever seen these before?
My guess on the speedo would be a anti-tamper device used to keep drivers from unhooking the cable and then driving the vehicle for their own use.
Second item is a modulator valve. |
Re: Ever seen these before?
Yep, the 400 in my truck has one of those old style modulators. The new replacements are small and look way different. I've never seen one of those speedometer things before though.

Re: Ever seen these before?
I have seen those on school buses in the junk yard. I would have to guess that it is an anti-tamper thing

Re: Ever seen these before?
