Summit radiators-What do you think?

Check out the link below for a summit universal radiator that I am considering
for the 70 c-10 with basically stock 98 vortec 350 engine.

Please give opinions both positive and negative.
Thanks

Re: Summit radiators-What do you think?

I have a Griffin aluminum radiator in my 72.
The Summit rad looks almost identical to my Griffin.
IIRC mine has 2 rows off 1.25 in wide cores, (instead of the Summit version's 1 in cores)

Mine cools a .030 over 454 pulling a 31 foot RV camper with a S-10 pickup or a Cavalier behind the camper, so I wouldn't think you'd have any problems with a 350.

I did have to put a shroud on mine though. Not because it would overheat moving down the road, but because it would get hotter than I felt comfortable with when idling for 5-10 minutes. Then when I would shut the engine off it would boil over. The shroud seems to have solved both problems.

that is not a summit radiator!

summit buys parts from there vendors and charge alot less because they do not have to market the product at all.

if you look closely at all the other radiators that summit sells it will look like another brand just a different camera angle in the advertisement

I think we all probably knew this already. I am just inquiring about quality, installation experiences, etc.

Just a few things I don't like about them...
No drain petcock, no heater hose inlet, no transmission line hookups.

For those reasons, I like these two...

Even though they are more expensive.

Re: Summit radiators-What do you think?

I wonder how difficult or how much it would cost to have a petcock and heater hose connection welded in.

Looks like a really good price, but I also wonder how well it would fit on stock\OEM radiator mounts.

Anyone know?
