67-72 Resource material
 

Can anyone recommend any good books on 67-72 Chevrolet and GMC trucks?

I have restored a 59 GMC and know how valuable good information really is.

The type of information I am looking for is differences, available options, numbers, engines, etc.

I think most of it is available on this webpage and this webpage is a wonderful resource but I am looking for one source (this could be multiple books).

Or is there a sticky page on this site I have not found?

on e-bay, i purchased a thick book,it's a combined reprint, 67 - 72 chevy/GMC truck assembly manual... pricelss when reassembling things... I think i paid 40 bucks... maybe 50, there always seems to be one on there.
Another one that is good, but I recomend finding it used as the 67 -72 info is limited, The Standard Catalog of American Light Duty Trucks... VERY good info on every make and model of light truck made in the US. That was another e-bay score.
One I got that I do NOT recomend, is the Chevy Truck ID ID Numbers 1946 - 1972... a lot of info, but a lot of it is inacurate.
Any kind of dated info ... dated from 67 - say... 78 or so, stuff wrieen when the trucks were still new to newish, any of that will be very good info IMO. I also like getting brochures and adds from old magizines... I have a decent collection of them going on to. Many framed and hung like art. :D

I purchased a "1972 Chevrolet 10-30 series truck - Service Manual" I've used it 3 or 4 times when I've been stuck on something. Quicker reference than the Assembly manual, as it is specific to a year. (less detail) If your looking on e-bay, most sellers will have both the "Factory Assembly" and "10-30 Service" manuals. Save some bucks on shipping multiple items.

PS. Don't the Hayes or Chilton books, they suck hard.

I already have a factory service manual.

I guess I am looking for information like, what grills are the same in GMC's.

I will take a look at the FAQ.

Well, for that question;
67 had it's own grill. A one year P/N
68 - 70 grill was the same, but in 69, they added a large top bar and surround trim that gave it a new look.
71/72 shared a grill modified from the original style.

Service manuals are a must and so are assembly manuals. Can't do without them.

And as an addition to this post guys there is a number the "ISBN" for all books printed now.If you post a book it would be nice if you looked in the cover and gave that # because it makes it much easier to look up.Thanx!!

I recommend GM Truck parts books also. You can see what year a part was applicable too..and the range of years it was used.

For options and such, its either dealer brochures or a data book.

Also handy especially for the JY cruisin or finding out whether a truck has rare options is the "Red Book" It's also at MBI(Motor books International).While it does probably contain some inacuracies it is a handy size and better than my memory.

ISBN is 0-87938-771-8 price is $10.95 and it's pocket sized.

I found the red book do be decent, but not enough to keep. It does have some inacuracys, and some decent info, I just had all that info and some more acurate elsewhere so i sold it.
