Ram steering research
I just today bought a new parts truck ('67 C-10) with ram-style power steering. Does anyone have any links concerning this system? Since its been raining like a maddog  and was dark when I got the truck back home, I've yet to even look at it very well. I DID notice that the power steering was whisper light in it's response and I've only seen it a few times in the past few years.

Re: Ram steering research
it sounds like you have the only one left that works.

Re: Ram steering research
They are few and far between, prone to leaks also. What exactly are you trying to research on it?

Re: Ram steering research
I have one on my 67 GMC that still works great. Of course it is now waiting on me to finish the motor and trans swap. I am going with a serpentine belt and newer pump so not sure how that will work with it.

Deciding whether to hang onto it.

As long as it works and it's original why not keep it. I think there are re-build kits for them. It's the same type of system that was used on some early vettes. Does your frame have the dimple for a 68 & up steering box?

Re: Ram steering research
d'know. Bought the thing for the P/S brackets & steering column, for me, and the steering box for a friend's '67 GMC...not much else fits my '68. It was a fluke I even looked under the hood...just got in & drove it home. I'll check it out at lunch tomorrow.

Re: Ram steering research
My 67 c10 had the same style ram ps unit, my grandfather bought the truck new in 1967 and had it added on. It always had a problem leaking so when we started the restoration I dimpled the frame and updated to a 1978 ps gear box, works much better no leaks.
