help identifying vacuum ports on a quadrajet
 
i am trying to find the direct and ported vacuum ports on my quadrajet. im trying to hook up my vacuum advance and i was told to put it on the ported one. (i currently have it on the port sticking out of the passenger side of the carb).

Just pull a vacuum line off the carb while it's running at idle, and if you feel vacuum when you put your finger on it, it's manifold vaccum. If you have no vacuum, just open the throttle a bit and if there is vacuum off idle, it is ported.

on my 71 the vaccume advance for the timing is on the drivers side.
