One step forward two (or more) steps back
Well the good thing is that I finally got the motor in and most everything hooked up. I can not for the life of me take the plug out of the side of the head to put the temp unit in. I also can not seem to figure out why my passenger side exhaust manifold is not drilled to fit my heads. I am considering pulling the manifold off and drilling a hole to make it work. And out of the clear blue my freshly rebuilt carburetor has sprung a leak right below the fuel inlet behind the butterfly looking thing. So things look up then they come crashing down. The motor does run and seems to run fairly well. Think the valves may need a little more adjusting......

Sounds about like things always go for me too man! Except with the EFI, it is about 1 step forwards, and 12 steps back, lol
I'd guess that your pass side manifold is warped... You can build or buy a spreader tool to get em back on, or go find some manifolds from a 73-80ish truck, they don't seem to warp as bad as the new ones. As far as the plug goes, I can feel you on that one too... I wound up having to drill it out, and re-tap the hole. |

If it is just one side, Lisle tools makes a spreader that will spring it out a little bit so you can get the bolts started. Slonaker |
