fuel filter and line help

my lines keep clogging up pulled sending unit and the filter on the unit is rotted and falling apart the tank looks clean.can you get the filter or do you have to get whole sending unit.
thought about using short piece of hose and clamp and in line filter on sending unit.or just put a good filter inline before pump.

im replacing all the lines from tank to carb.where the line comes from tank thru floor do i have to have the rubber line there or can i run all steel line.thanks

All steel line is preferred. Just give it a couple of feet on each before you clamp it to the frame end so it can flex with the cab and engine movement.

It sounds like you need to clean out your tank. Best done by pulling it and rinsing it out. Sounds like there is some junk in the bottom, tough to see with it in the truck.

you shouldn't install a filter before the bump, can cause, or aggravate a vapor lock condition.

just got thru running 3/8 metal line with rubber where it needs to be.2 filters between pump and carb and 1 temporay filter behind seat on sending unit till i can get a sock.
i got fuel in lines but it didnt fire i shot it with starting fluid and got it running went around block it runs decent but not all there.checked filters and there is small trickle of gas. filters will not fill up could this be vapor lock.

we drawed gas out filtered it. done this twice
someone has put a shreded piece of plastic in it.my son has been having trouble with exgirlfriend and he left it sitting it town a few hours then the trouble starts.i just let it drop cause i cant prove someone put it in there
