Anyone running a Superlift?
 

I've got a 99 Gmc with the 6.5-7.5 in Superlift. It is a dual shock design, and the lower shock bushings are shot, but other then that everything looks to be in proper spec and working order. However something is just off with it, occasionally it feels like the front shifts from side to side and at times has an extremely bad death wobble. The torsion bars are maxed out yet the truck is not sitting level from side to side nor front to back. Just wondering if anyone else running this lift has had similar problems and what actions were taken to correct it.

So far I am not impressed with the setup. I am going to replace the shocks, get heavier duty torsion bars, install a steering stab. and also put ladder bars on the rear. It also has a three inch body lift, so I am going to put a Borgenson steering shaft with a vib. dampener. on it. If that doesnt seem to fix the situation I'm thinking about removing the lift and installing a Fabtech. But wanted to get some advice before I drop a ton of money into it for no apart reason. I know that most companies have re-designed these lifts to prevent the problems you`re having.I think you`ve got lateral movement,by what you say.

Check your idler and pitman arm for your death wobble issues. 99% of the lifted IFS chevys wear those parts out very fast. Last year I lifted a new duramax and 15,000 miles later the idler and pitman arm were shot. Big, heavy, wide tires kill those front ends.

I agree with that.I,personally,wouldn`t put a tire bigger than a 285/75 on the IFS.Even then,on the`92 and`95 that I`ve owned,the idler arm goes out about every 60,000 miles.I`ve never had to do anything else to the f/e on either one.The`92 has 230,000 miles on all original f/e,except for replacing the idler arm 4 times.And,I run 285s.Even w/stock size rubber they go out frequently.
But,my trucks never sat crooked or some off the other things you mention.I`cd get the weight off that f/e and do some checking for movement.Check into today`s IFS lifts.They`re all talkin`new and improved for better rigidity.

Thanks for your input guys. Well I work at Les Schwab Tire Center as an alignment tech and had it in on the rack but I couldnt see or feel any abnormal movement out of the idler or pitman arm...or any other fe part for that matter other then the shocks. I'll get some pics up soon, but it has a brace that attaches to the idler/pitman and then the center link drops about 3-4 inches where it bolts to that brace....then there is a pivot arm that attaches to the centerlink and goes to the front crossmember....and it just doesnt make sense to me and dont know if that could have something to do with it. But I suppose I will get it in the shop again and take a closer inspection of it and possibly take it apart to see if anything has a sticky spot in it. The nice thing about this lift is that if just simply drops the diff down with out having to cut the mounting ear off so if I so choose to either take the lift completely off or switch it over to a different one i can.

That sounds like a pro comp kit that is now discontinued. Pro comp had that funky steering support arm but it proved to be useless and its now discontinued. I doubt that has anything to do with your death wobbles.
