Motor mount position
1 Attachment(s)
My truck was originally equipped with a 6 banger now has a 350. It sits very far back,do I need to move the motor mounts? there is only one hole in the bottom of the crossmember for the lower bolt,so I am unsure what I need to do to move it forward.Thanks.

This is where it should be. On a 1970 with a 350.

Re: Motor mount position
Check the classified section or post a WTB for a set of V8 towers, you should be able to find a set fairly cheap.
The V8 towers sit further forward, and are lower than the I6 towers, which would be necessary to maintain proper driveline angle. As you've probably noticed, the V8 on I6 mounts tilts rearward due to the wrong mount height, as you can see in the pic of my truck mounted that way http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...ngineComp2.jpg |
Re: Motor mount position
I searched the FAQs and nothing. Are the 6 cylinder and Small V8 the same perches? I also have a 3spd manual trans and the bellhousing is bolted to a crossmember. Can I remove that crossmember and use a standard trans crossmember to move my engine foward?

Re: Motor mount position
Don't forget about your driveline if you move it forword it will be to short then you will have to spend $ to get it right.I have my sb in the back hole and no issues at all.
