I read in a post that all the new guys should have to post pics of what they have so I took a few today. 1947 1/2 ton, 70 nova subframe was done a long time ago. I drove this truck in high school and started to tear it apart at that time to "restore it". That was 1991-1992. I have found out since then that it's alot easier to tear them apart than it is to put them back together. Back then it had a stock 350, turbo 350 and stock rear end out of a later truck w/o the torque tube. Now it has a 454, t350 and Nova 10 bolt posi with
4.10s. Should be a pretty quick truck. I also put disc brakes on the front and a power booster on the frame. This is a budget build so I don't have too much money to make it nice and intend to use this as a truck when I'm done.

They must be sized to 640 x 480 pixels or smaller. If they are on your hard drive, under your post (in "advanced mode") you will see "manage attachments". From there you can upload up to 5 at a time. if i could find a set i'd put them on mine, im running 15by 12" on the rear and 16"s on the front, the m/t's on the 12"s make up for the hight.

Nice looking start. I knoow what you mean about tearing them down and scratching your head when you're looking at all the parts and how they all went together. Espeacially 15 years later. Good luck, welcome to the board, and I dig the wheels also.

I was wonderin how you converted your front drums to disc brakes. Did you buy a kit or use some doner parts. You stated it was low budget so just curious. I have the exact same set up on my 48 and need to convert the clip to disc brakes. Thanks. Where did you buy your booster also?

I don't know if this poster is still around since the thread is almost four years old...however...

I converted my Nova drum set up to discs awhile back using a kit from Scarebird (www.scarebird.com) and it seems to work well. I have also installed an S-10 master cylinder/booster which seems to work well with my 10 bolt Nova rear end. FWIW...

Damn! i didnt even know you were on here. I see you know red? I just started working at Morrow in lincoln, so i see him alot.

I see your 2200 in the front and 1200 rear. thats weird, because im 2150 in the front, 1500 in rear :( . elky sub, 400sbc, aluminum radiator. do you have the inner fenders in? maybe ill be better off switching to LS as well, just for weight. or, just putting a new front clip on it to shave lbs.

Also, are those the stock 50's leafs? thats crazy your pulling those decent times.. WITH no weight in the rear, and leafs.

Small world, I work at The Shop, Inc so I'm sure I'll see you sooner or later.
The rear springs are a kit I bought from RB's obsolete years ago, they are pretty stiff, I'd like to four link it with coilovers.

I ran a best of 7.89 at around 90 mph in the 1/8 on the motor and 7.14 and close to 100 on 150 shot if I remember right. It put down 314 whp and 346 ft lbs and 440 whp and 599 for torque on a 150 shot. I think my best 60' was like 1.59. I'll have to check my slips.

Most recently I've sold the big block, I dislike carburetors and horrible fuel mileage.

Nice! i just dropped kevin the other day with a black F150. Is your truck at the shop?

i like what your plans are. I went with QA1 rear single adjustable coilover kit. 500 bucks, i figure'd that was about the best bang for the buck. I also have the QA1 adjustable coilover "conversion" on the front for musclecars w/ 500lb springs. Awesome ride.

Ill be waiting on your weight totals when this gets done. I think that will be my desicion maker.

and hell, Two boosted AD trucks running around.. what could be better?

Yeah, my pile is at the shop. Next time you come over we can take a look at it. You should bring your truck by sometime, I like to see what other people do and brainstorm/share ideas.
The only bad thing I've heard on the QA1's were the lower cross bar breaking on the front kit:(, but if you're having good luck with yours I may try them, I'd like to have the adjustabilty!

I'd love to bring it by, but its about 2 hrs north with a fried trans.

Im hoping that i can get it finished to the point of drivability again before the cold starts up, then i gotta find a place to store it down here. ill be repainting the whole thing again as well.

the only thing ive had an issue with on the front coilovers, is the lower bushing that holds the T-bar in. Ive squished out a bushing on the passenger one. I had a hell of a time getting it sent in and returned to me from QA1 directly. It took just over a month for them to get it back to me. I tried to have speedway rebuild it, but they kept destroying the bushing when reinstalling them. The only reason i think that happened was because of the day i drove it to get aligned and have the drop spindles put on, i had the coilvoers set too low, and i think it was bottoming out. I think if you would get them, have the lighter LS motor, then you should be good to go.

and dont worry about getting the needle bearing kit to "help" in adjusting. they dont do a damn thing.

A company ive been wanting to try, or just look into is Aldan. they have a beefier lower mount than the QA1's seemed to have.
