Noob w/ 69 LWB Custom Camper
Greetings,
Have searched and have not been able to find some info on my new truck.. First Crazy question, what are the springs behind the passenger seat for? (the ones in the cubby behind the door and the one on the floor) Second, my truck has 3 tanks, and the selector switch on the floor next to the drivers seat, which positions on the switch are for which tank? I have not been able to locate a switch to move the gage to any of the other tanks (works on the cab tank).. Third, who was the manufacturer for the 3/4 ton rear end, I want to order a gasket for the cover so I can drain and inspect the ring gear and dont want to get the wrong one.. found this one I am sure I will have more and more questions as time goes on, as there are a few things to go back together on this ride, but it will be sweet when all done.. the springs retain the original jack
the tank selector switch use's the small pointed end as the marker.. i made a plate for mine.. when the small pointer ends toward the passenger side it's right.. in the center= behind the seat..and to the left =drivers side eaton and dana made the rears.. most danas had leafts eatons had coils.. but that might not be gospil,, post a picture.. also the drums are removed by two screws on a dana.. the eaton you have to remove all the axel screws on the hub.. then the lock nut..and it goes on.. i have the dana 60 with leafs :metal: and welcome to the board :) |

I have springs out back and from what I can tell in partial darkness its got a 10 bolt totally round cover, so I figure its the Eaton rear.. Will be pulling out the seat tomorrow hopefully (weather permitting) and getting it cleaned up. Hope to get some pic's up soon. Might make a wrecking yard run too and try to clean up some of the vac leaks at the carb.. Still fires up like a dream. It has one of the older Target Master crate motors in it, but is remarkably stock still.. Hopefully I will not be replacing the carb anytime soon and cleaning up the vac leaks will take care of it.. It also makes horrible brake noise when backing/applying brakes. Hopefully thats not a warning sign of trouble.. have to drive it as I am working on it.. Thanks again for the info.. |

If the aux gas tanks were factory installed there would be a knob left of the insturment panel. Do you fill the saddle tanks with gas going thru gas doors or is there a filler gas cap at the top of the bed right behind the one cab gas cap? If the filler is at the top of the bed and the filler tube is incased in factory sheet metel inside of the bed you might have factory installed tanks. If you have gas doors or the filler tube is in the wheel wells then you have after market tanks and probly no gas gauges. Is that clear as mud?

oddly enough, it appears they are factory due to the way they are mounted, must have been a pretty good job.. will have to pull them one day and see about getting the switch.
That will be another day way down the road.. Tomorrow starts the major cleaning and some photos.. :new: |

Look underneath at the switch.The fuel lines go to each tank.Follow them to each tank(or that direction).The dual tanks are dealer or other installed.Some mounted a 3-way switch to control the gauge,some didn`t.
