Longhorn bed question!
Would a 1972 Chevy Longhorn bed fit on any 67-72 3/4 ton GMC or Chevy truck? does the Longhorn have a bigger frame than a 3/4 ton?
Thanks! |
Re: Longhorn bed question!
The frame is longer and it is normaly a 1 ton frame (length wise)
Andy will pipe up with this. |

Re: Longhorn bed question!
So.... all Longhorns have a 1 ton frame?

Re: Longhorn bed question!
no,some were 3/4 tons

Re: Longhorn bed question!
Yes. The Longhorn bed will fit as long as you remove the front, 6", extension and replace it with a standard box front. The Longhorn frame is a one ton frame and is 9" cross section channel. It is also 6" longer than the 127" wheelbase frame.
Even the 3/4 ton Longhorns had the 1-ton cross section frame since it was a longer wheelbase and was designed to carry a heavy camper. |
Re: Longhorn bed question!
I love this site!! I just wanna make sure I got this right, in order for me to use a Longhorn bed the frame must be a 133" wheelbase frame?

Re: Longhorn bed question!
yep, all is correct here... all longhorns had one ton frames, they were taller than a SWB or LWB frame too, and the longhorn bed can not be properly bolted onto a 127 inch wheel base.. the added section is at the front.
