What you get for 7K in Canada :(

Looked at this 67 swb in town today, totally rusted out, even the hood has a gallon of filler and rocker guard smeared on the front edge. Box floor and sides are all eaten away, can see much daylight through the holes, ugly interior, cheap no name wheels, busted windshield, etc. Well, being a swb (never see them up here) I thought I better call, and I nearly fell over when he told me $7000 was the price. 7K? For this? Sorry about the lousy pics but I thought I would share to add some humor to everyone's day.

Everyone in Saskatchewan thinks they can get silk from a sow's ear.

Lets think for a minute; everything in this country is a blessing!!! People in other countries dont have the availability of products period that we do. Even if it is canada, or mexico. Be thankful we are Americans, and we have low price, AND availability on goods and services!!! Viva AMERICA!!!!

Its crazy that you have to spend a good $15k to find a good 67-72 shortbox up here. I'm jealous of you guys south of the border for your good old metal.

Just saw a '72 chev short fleet in San Luis Obispo with a decent motor and body for $2500 - took him a month to sell it. I missed it by a day.:(

Re: What you get for 7K in Canada :(

7K is a totally retarded price, even for up here. Seeing this crap just reinforces my opinion that to buy one of these I will have to head south.

Re: What you get for 7K in Canada :(

Asking and getting are two totally different things. I'd believe it when the guy shows you somebodies 7K cash in hand. Silk from a sows ear is about right. Nobody will give you a nickel here telling you your car is a dime a dozen and in the same breath their dime a dozen piece of crap is worth a fortune and it's firm. Even crazier go to an auction here where every farm has some of those wonderful barn finds and see what people will pay at an auction. Alot of the low mileage and survivor trucks I see on the for sale board south of the border are bargains!

That guy is crazy, I figured that I'd be lucky to get 7K for mine once it's fixed up, it is a lwb though.

Sorry. I couldn't resist. Seriously though, that's a crazy price. I'll sell ya my 68 short step for half that. You'll have to put it all back together though. :)

mvfd70 check the exchange rate. The Canadian dollar is very strong, expect parity within the next year.

We have the same stupid people down here, too. Then,we have the ones that won`t pay $7,000 for a solid high optioned K/20 brought 3,000 miles east from California, but they`ll pay $8500 for a local base C/10 longbed with fresh paint(over who knows what?)and shiney custom wheels,

Really? That close? It's been a while since I've been up there. I hope you didn't take offense to that. It was meant as a little good natured ribbing. I've got nothing against anyone there. You have a very beautiful country and I loved the couple of times I was there visiting. I'm hoping that I get to go back for another visit sometime.

Re: What you get for 7K in Canada :(

No offense at all. Just an FYI. Actually in alot of ways a high dollar is not good for us. A lower dollar makes us more competative. I work for an RV manufacturer and a high dollar can hurt our bottom line. It does however make buying parts and trucks from south of the border cheaper for us!
