How to change PS pressure hose?
Finally cleaned up the underneath, and found the PS leak is coming from a cut in the pressure hose. After the cleaning, it really seemed to pour out. Guess there wasn't enough grime to keep it from dripping all over the place. Anyway, what's involved in changing this. Is it as simple as unscrew old one and screw in new one? Also, I'm hoping O'Reilly or someone has one of these?
Thanks. |
Re: How to change PS pressure hose?
Yep, Just unsrew the line from the pump and the other side on the box. I bought one for my 72 at the local automotive shop. $17
I think the pump was 9/16" and the box was 5/8".. I changed both lines while I was down there. The return line was $10. |
Re: How to change PS pressure hose?
and please use a fitting wrench (like you would use for a brake line). will work much better and you wont rist rounding off anything..

My return hose, I can handle. Just clamped, right? Will make sure to use 9/16 and 5/8. Any other thoughts?

Re: How to change PS pressure hose?
do not use tape on new hose treads or it will leak

Re: How to change PS pressure hose?
Thanks for the input, guys. I really appreciate it. For those that have gotten the part from O'Reillys, etc. do you happen to have a part number so I know I'll get the right one?

Re: How to change PS pressure hose?
Okay, so I DO NOT put teflon tape on the threads? Just confirming...trying to fix leaks, not create more for myself later. Thanks again.
