powerglide-rebuild or replace?
 

I've got a 2 speed powerglide trans in my 67 that slips in between 1st and 2nd when on the gas hard. Works ok if driven normally. I think it just needs a good rebuild, anyone done this before? I'd like to tackle the job myself, any words of wisdom here would be great since this would be my first attempt at a trans rebuild. Or would I be better off just purchasing a rebuilt one and swapping it out?

Do Tell! I also have a '67 with a powerglide. Slips and leaks. Am wondering how difficult these are to rebuild.

i had a power glide in my 68 chevelle and was horrible experience i cant ever imagine anybody wanting to rebuild that thing

replace it and dont look back

Those have adjustable clutch bands and not discs.You may be able to stop the slippage with adjustment and cross this bridge another day.I figure any transmission that lasts 40 years can`t be that bad.

If your not looking to stay original. I should have everything but the tranny to swith to a TH350. Crossmember, Column, Linkage, etc... you would need a transmission, convertor, new driveshaft, maybe some other small stuff...

Easiest tranny you'll ever rebuild. Buy a rebuild video and go at. You won't regret it. I've done dozens of em, very easy.
