NV4500 5 speed Transmission
 

Thinking of changing the automatic to a 5 speed. Anyone near Pittsburgh, PA have a NV4500 5 speed transmission?

I'd appreciate any help in locating one.

found one today with 81k for $700. Didn't know if that was a good price or not. I guess it doesn't sound to bad after all. Another with 66k was $1200.00.

Try a pick-n-pull if there is one close to you. You may have to have it rebuilt but it could still be cheaper. I'm looking for a 5-speed as well. The NV3500 is supposed to bolt up nicely as well as a Borg Warner t-5.

This is what I have narrowed my decision down to for project OverKill. Tremec 5 speed.

chevydude, does that tranny maintain the mechanical linkage, or do you have to go hydraulic.

from what i've researched for the nv4500, it seems the difficult part is setting up the hydraulic clutch. or the more pricey route of buying a special bellhousing from someone like advance adapters that lets you keep the original mechanical linkage.

To my knowledge, it does maintain the mechanical linkage. Here the link to the guys I have been talking with. Their phone is on this page and they are awesome with customer service. Not cheap in any way....but what I like to say is "Good things aren't Cheap, and Cheap things aren't Good" ... and this is for project OverKill afterall...LOL!

I have a buddy with a NV3500 if anyone is interrested, I think he wants $500 plus shipping. Shipping shouldn't be too bad.
