Bed Identification

Does the vin or SPID on the glove box denote what type of bed was original to a certain truck? (stepside or fleetside)

Yes, on the model number which is only found on the SPID. Scroll down on this page http://67-72chevytrucks.com/Chevyear.html and find the model number decoder.
