Ran O.K., smoked just a little. Tranny worked fine when I pulled it out, 2 monthes ago. Needs a clutch, though it works. 2 barrel carb. Need to get rid of it. $50, come pick it up.

I am too far to pick it up, what condition are the valve covers in? Need a set for my 66.
Thanks,
Steve

If you start parting it out, I'd be interested in the following:

#1. Carb
#2. Distributor
#3. Front Pulleys

Re: FS 283 with 4 speed

I will probably end up doing that, if I don't sell it complete - I'll keep you posted. I just need to get rid of it, and I hate to take a complete running engine to the scrap yard, but if I have to, I will.

Re: FS 283 with 4 speed

Truckguy, it's a sm420, and the shifter is interesting - like it had been twisted into a pretzel and someone tried to straighten it, but it was positioned ok in the truck, and if you want it let me know. busted knuckle, pm me, we'll work it out -
