I figure with this motor, I can safely sport these badges. They are stamped steel welded and molded into fender.

Cyco Path 10-16-2002 11:57 PM

Damn straight you can.

RED72blazer 10-17-2002 03:40 AM

Thats just about the coolest thing I've ever seen...

67shortie 10-17-2002 05:04 AM

That is way cool  I was thinking on the lines of maybe a set of the older style corvette flags on that area of the fender on mine, but that does look pretty sharp :)

NSANE68!!! 10-17-2002 10:35 AM

Thanks, I like em. I think they turned out pretty good. They kinda just flow and don't pull your eyes.
Now who can guess where they came from.

Clue#1, can be found at just about any salvage yard.

Clue#2, they came off a tailgate. (that should give it away):D

Smooth68 10-17-2002 10:45 AM

hmmmmm.......niSSan? hehe. Nice mod! Does that stand for Smok'n Small block or Sweet Shortbed?

NSANE68!!! 10-17-2002 10:55 AM

You are GOOD, lol. I like the SMOKIN SMALLBLOCK, that sounds about right, hehe:D

Smooth68 10-17-2002 11:11 AM

I'm not wanting to copy so don't worry, but did you do a cut and replace with the fender or is that just an overlay of the patch on the original metal?

NSANE68!!! 10-17-2002 11:30 AM

I cut them out of the tailgate. Trimmed them up. Traced the outline on my NEW fenders. Cut the hole in the fender. Used magnets to hold flush, and tacked it in. The rest you know, grinding, skim coat, prime, ect.:D

Yukon Jack 10-17-2002 12:06 PM

That is a very nice custom touch. Haven't seen anything like that done before. What color is your truck gonna be?

XXL 10-17-2002 12:12 PM

Looks good. I did something similar years ago, but I had to create a mold of the impression I wanted to use, then pound like a madman to get it in the sheetmetal. I like your use of an existing embossing better! Less shoulder pain!!

NSANE68!!! 10-17-2002 02:57 PM

Yukon, the truck will be mostly BLACK, with a touch of white, and some 6-color chang Kameleon worked into the mix. I'll just give the colors for now. I can't give away the suprise. LOL:D

XXL, I know I kinda cheated, hehe. I was sitting behind a NISSAN at a light one day, and BAM it hit me. Went to my local bone yard got 2 tailgates for $50. The rest is history. I like emblems, I just don't think they should pull your eyes away. When they are put on by the factory with double sided tape, it almost lokks like an AFTERTHOUGHT. I will just paint mine all body color no highlights or outlines to pull your eyes. JMO:cool:

That is damn slick, nice touch:flag:

Perfect size for a fender. Great idea.

chevyman02 10-17-2002 05:46 PM

Dude i'm digging the green engine with the neon wires. Do you have any other pics of it?

Stepside 10-17-2002 06:54 PM

That's got to be one of the best new original ideas I've seen. It blends perfect, yet says alot. Any time frame on the paint?
