Harness compatibility

In a rush so I didn't do a search - I recently had my under dash harness burn up - saved the truck but made a mess. I need a few parts and one of the members has a 67 or 68 harness, idiot guage set up - Can anyone tell me if it'd be the same as my 72? I mainly need the thru firewall parts but want to get the whole thing he has. Thanks all (I usually do the search but kind of busy this morning and would like to get it to me asap if it'll work) - Thanks all!

Here's a recent thread on it. Sounds like it would if you switched a couple of wires around. (ignore the second post)

Thanks Lock, I know the wires can be switched around but I need to know if the firewall parts are the same..well, I read 116 posts (searched) and didn't find an answer. I've PM'd him to say I'll take it and, well, it looks like I'm going to find out  I want to get it in out of the rain... I hate it when all the rust gets wet!

What caused the fire? Why take a chance on another used harness and have the same thing happen again?

[QUOTE=Luvlegs;2565029] I mainly need the thru firewall parts but want to get the whole thing he has. [QUOTE]

I'm rebuilding my harness and need a part at the firewall. I can re-build mine for about $10 (wire - already have) and another $5 in connectors (already have), and the $25 or so for the used harness. $40 to me beats $350 or better. And now you know.

I belive my headlight switch was the culprit - I had been driving around for 3 or 4 days with no issues. First evening I used the headlights, that's when it started. The headlight switch interior looked like the worst battery terminal you've ever seen and I only got to see that because the switch grenaded when I was taking it out.
