Any one ever tried Seafoam??
I was wondering if that seafoam stuff really works. I have 350 in my '70 c10, I've did quite a bit of work to the motor since I last year. The previous owner did keep the maintenence up on it and I plan on getting a rebuild once my funds are saved up. I was told that seafoam would do wonders for it until I get around to rebuilding the motor.

Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
I'm not a fan of seafoam....Maybe its because I sell Justice Brothers.

Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
I'm not a fan of the "overhaul in a can" products, but have used Seafoam in an 200k mi. 302 blue oval motor when it had a sticking exhaust valve/lifter. Directly in the engine oil and idled for 10 min and then changed oil. I got lucky, the valve freed itself after a few miles. Also pulled a can through the intake via the brake booster vacuum line and man did it smoke! follow the directions on the can and good luck.

Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
I like it... is it a miracle cure... no, but just like ny other tool when used correctly I thnk you can get positive results... I like to use it on older eninges to remove carbon from valves, seats, ports and piston tops by sucking it through a vacuum line into the intake... one can per motor and it seems to have worked... I have had my auto students pull a head, look at the build up, re-install it, run a de-carbonizer (seaform, JB or other) and remove the head a second time and it does do a bit of cleaning... super clean.. no, but significantly better than before.. yes... GM and 3M sell intake cleaning kits that use basically the same chemistry albeit you can run it into your fuel line via a schraeder valve... JMO...

Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
do a search on the forum and youll find a few threads about it with alot of info on it
i have used it personally and it does make a big improvement in performance |
Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
I personally like it. Never was a big fan of cures in a can, but I have used it with some success on million mile bowties, and lawn mowers and other used and abused engines.

Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
I poured a little bit through the carb, and it did wonders it blew smoke out the back of the tail pipes. I then poured the rest in the gas tank, then went and got some 93 octane which helps it run cleaner.

Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
Everybody has there own favorite I guess.....I like to run a couple bottles of Techron consentrate through my 69 after it sits for the season. Chevron puts this out, as a fuel injector cleaner, but its also good to clean up the valves. Just dump it in the tank & drive. IMO, the best injector cleaner I have used....I use it in the wifeys 03 B ville, & my 93 turd ranger also. crazyL

Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
I use seafoam and I like it. I pour a can of it in the gas tank every 5000miles or so in my z71 and my wife's jeep. Helps keep valves clean and I see a little increase in performance

Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
I like Sea Foam. I use Sea Foam. It is not a "tune-in-a-can."
It is a cleaner. A powerful cleaner. Use as directed. Do not under any circumstances leave Sea Foam in the carb or in the oil pan. The Sea Foam, after attacking the gunk, will then eat certain metals fast. Diluted in the gas is fine. This is a case of a little goes a long way. |
Re: Any one ever tried Seafoam??
Thanks, I appreciate the info...may or may not give it a try.
