4 3/4" bolt pattern?
ive got a set of 71-72 disc spindles for a 67.been wondering if theres
anyway to go to a 4 3/4" bolt pattern rotor.thinking maybe a large gm passenger car rotor or rotor and spindle both might work?ive got a rearend that would work.have a complete set of convopro centerlines that would look nice on this truck.so many more wheel options with 4 3/4".thanks |

most newer GM runs the 5x 4.75 and ford runs the 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern

The guy said they had a 5 x 4.5 pattern and they were from his S10. I know he was measuring right ... this is what I get for taking his measurement at face value! (Glad I didn't drive all the way out there to buy em!!) |

Someone on here has done this. I think they used 70's Chevy G-10 van front discs and redrilled the rear axles, but it's been a while since that was posted.

I actually just did something like this. i may be able to help you out as I might not be using the wheels I originally planned to use. I have a 68 with a 73-87 crossmember/ disc brake setup. I bought a set of practically brand new rotors redrilled for 5 x 4 3/4 from a board member on here. I had to replace my rear axles due to mine being 6 lug. I bought them from Moser and had them drilled for both 5 x 4 3/4 and 5 x 5 at no extra charge. Now comes the tricky part. I needed a set of drums from a G10 van (don't remember the year) but found out through much cross-referencing that the FRONT drums from a 56 Chevy Bel Air are the same part number. I just happened to have a set of drums from my disc brake conversion on my Bel Air. All problems solved. Hope this helps a little. Like I said, I might be able to let my rotors go to make your life easier if you are interested. I have decided not to use the wheels I was going to originally use, so I really don't have a need to keep the rotors. If not it is no sweat, I will just move the studs over to the 5 x 5 pattern on the front rotors and rear axles and reuse my original drums. (sure glad I did dual bolt pattern).

That sounds like a lot of extra work, hunting, time and money for some wheels. How much did that set you back in the long run?

Well, it wasn't really that expensive. The axles I needed to change anyway, and dual bolt patterns were not extra. The drum brakes for the rear were free, and the cost of the front rotors from a board member. It wasn't that bad really. If you need to change to 5 lug anyway and you have a set of wheels you want to use that are 5 x 4 3/4 it really doesn't cost anything extra. If you already have the wheels, it would actually be cheaper than buying a new set of wheels. The cost of the rotors wasn't much more if any (I can't remember what I paid) than the cost of a new set of 5 x 5 rotors. Hope this clears it up a little.

Just get rotors from cpp. They sell a kit with 5x4.75 bolt pattern. I am going to run the same kit on my truck. Here's a link to their website. Give them a call.

I don't know about the CPP kit. It seems really expensive to me. You can buy a 73 -87 crossmember for less than 100.00 and refurb the brakes for cheap. It just about bolts in. I don't know.
