New hood for the '68
 

I accidently found this on Craigslist. I showed it to my wife and she liked it. So, she bought it for her '68 short wide. It was about 40 miles out of our way, and we got it for $130.00. What do you think?

Do the louvers go all the way through? I had one and when it rained my intake had puddles of rainwater.

Yes, rain would be a problem. I was thinking of panning it off with 22 guage sheet metal. That would solve the rain problem, and bring some rigidity back to it in 1 step.

would u leave some drain wholes in the plate underneath cause water siting inside there wouldnt be to great
rust heaven
if it were me i would weld on 2 different pieces under each side and i would make some long triangle sides to weld onto the plate then weld the front of the plate and the bottom on the triangles to make the water drain away from my engine but also to leave the louvers working
just my thoughts

I was thinking something like this. Towards the front would be drain elbows pointed down to direct the water left and right of the fan shroud, straight down to the ground.

My buddy has a '64 Chevy II with a louvered hood, and they haven't had any issues, and trust me they drive that car.
