Tire size question.
From what I have gathered, our trucks came from the factory w/ a 28” tire. I am running a 30.6” tire (265/75r15) on a 3.07 rear end behind a TH350 with a shift kit. What are my chances of wearing out my rear end or tranny w/ the 30.6” tire? Would the taller tire put too much stress in these areas?
Thnx. |

Re: Tire size question.
a 275 75's would be the same hieght as the very-close-to factory 235 75 15. I wouldn't sweat it. and even if you did by some small chance wear it out, pay a couple bucks for another used chunk and drive it till it quits too.

Re: Tire size question.
This link http://www.discountpartcenter.com/tirecalc.html tells me that 235/75r15's are 28.9" Dia and 265/75r15's are 30.6" Dia. Still a 1.5" difference, though I agree should not make much difference.
And I apologize, I corrected my mistake in the original post. I am running 265's and not 275's. |
Re: Tire size question.
the thing that puts the most stress on the drivetrain is the drivers right foot

Re: Tire size question.
Shouldn't be a problem, just drops the rpm's some and would make the speedo read wrong, but that can be fixed. We have 265/70/17 on the 70 C10 and no problems. Good thing is you can clear large road kill, like a deer with no problem, just have to wash some blood off sometimes :lol::lol:
