Trans Question
I am trying to decide which direction to go with my daughters 67 c10.It currently is a long step 6cyl with a 3 on the tree.I am defently going to add power brakes(disc) and steering.I am either going to chop or replace the frame and will probably go with an automatic(less distractions for a 16 year old)What I am wondering is will a turbo 350 or 700r4 bolt behind the 6cyl?Sorry no pics yet, this was her great grandfathers truck bought new in 67 and will be a family project till she gets her license(3yrs)

Re: Trans Question
Yes, 6 cyl auto was optional. You'll need an auto trans. crossmember.

Re: Trans Question
Yes. It will bolt up. You will have to remove the crossmember under the bell housing & ad one vunder the trans.

Re: Trans Question
Actually, he'll need a cross member, cooler lines, rad with cooler, column and linkages. Possibly a yoke and drive shaft chop, longer speedo cable too.

Re: Trans Question
what about the 200r4 would it possibly be a better match and perhaps cheaper?

Re: Trans Question
Doing something similar on my 62, 700 better turbo is cheapper and tougher. If she can handle that three she be a better driver later.

Re: Trans Question
doing a 200 4R (my preference honestly) would still require all that, but you could use the driveshaft out of a, inline/TH350 truck... not an easy find.

Re: Trans Question
A 3 on the tree is almost exactly the same length as a TH350. The yoke is the same also. A 200R4 is very close to the same length so with those 2 a driveshaft chop and longer speedo cable may not be necessary on a LWB. Those are about the only 2 things I didn't have to change on my SWB tranny swap.
