transmission ?

what does the part look like that connects to the steering column? mine has a green wire. i'm not sure this is how the factory would do it. if you look just above the breather on the driver side of the engine you can see a little green wire. i think this is why it won't go into park.what would that piece be called? or look like? it has a floor shifter, but it was a column shifter from factory.

in the 2nd pic its below the master cylinder, rt by the rear exhaust port hard to see but can't post bigger pictures.

Re: transmission ?

I recognize that as a 3spd manual column shift linkage; sm318 tranny

I have no idea where that green wire goes.....three's really no need for it since you have an auto trans instead of a manual. You say you have a floor shifter.....I would look there, it could be out of adjustment. Is it cable operated or mechanical linkage?

It won't go into park? Wow. It's amazing me how careless some people can be. What is the other end of the wire tied to?

it runs to that black cable that goes off to the left by the header seems to run back to the tranny. i haven't got under it yet to see.

Re: transmission ?

that's the speedometer cable underneath... the shredded boot to the left was for the old clutch pedal rod. Is it a rigged up kick-down for the a/t?

Re: transmission ?

IS it spliced into it?? It looks like its just tied into a knot like to hold it up or something rigged.

Re: transmission ?

the green wire is tied through the (linkage?) the metal piece at the end of that cable? any idea? on a floor shifter where would be the part that puts it in park?

Re: transmission ?

I have no idea what that wire is there for? Unless that piece of linkage is still connected somewhere to the tranny?

Re: transmission ?

so that looks like a 3 speed standard column.
I bet they have that shif lever wired down to engage the neutral safety switch, so you can start the truck.
thats the only reason I can think of why they would want to keep the original disconnected column shift in place.
