The stupidist quesiton ever....
 

I tried to pull off the windsheild wipers..But they wont come off...Dont want to break anything
How Do I?????????

chevjayfsd, the only stupid question is the one that nobody asks.

The windshield wipers are mounted via a splined post. There is a small "catch" ring on the post below the splined portion. The windsheild wiper arm is spring loaded to maintain pressure of the wiper blade against the windsheild.

What ya do is carefully push the catch on the arm out of the ring on the splined post. Then tilt the arm slightly back toward the windsheild and pull the arm firmly but gently straight off of the post.

It can be kind of frustrating. And it's definitely easier to do than it is to explain.

Try not to pry against the cowl metal if yaou have to resort to force. You wouldn't want to mess up the paint.

ANyone!!!!!

I wrap a hammer handle with a rag, and use it as a fulcrum in combination with a flat blade screwdriver to gently pry around the edges where the wiper arm and the splined pivot meet... works every time..

Truckstr...I still dont understand...There is a little tab on the drivers side wiper but not the passengers

if there's not tab on the passenger side I guees it should be easier to remove, play with it moving it around, and have a lot of patience, took me about 1 hour to figure out that there was a tab under the wipers :rolleyes: and another 1/2 to get'em off.

They make a tool for removing the wiper blade. It lifts the side of the wiper that covers the spline and has a handle that when pushed down on "rocks " the wiper spline cover up on the oposite side of the wiper arm. I'm sure it is plain as day now...

It is easier done than said...

I remove mine the same way bigvinnie removes his. It's the easiest way unless you have that tool.

I would go with the tool junkyardjohn shows. There is nothing faster and easier to use to take them off then the tool he showed. Also you do not have to worry about possibly scuffing or scratching paint with it.:flag:

i have the same tool as in Vince M's picture, bought it from Snap-On. it works slick and you don't get near any painted area, plus, when the wiper arm comes off there's no chance of dropping it as your hand is wrapped around both the arm and the tool at the same time.
i've never used the tool John posted so i can't say how well it works.

I used a 2 jaw puller and a flat head screwdriver. Mind you that the wiper arms have prbly been on the truck for thirty years so they wont come off as easy sometimes
