Re: rear control arm??
I just had to buy one and put it in my truck ..It's called a pan hard bar ,,or tracking bar
I used a large vice to install the bushings but first I took 220 sand paper and sanded out the light rust and then wiped oil inside the housing before I pressed the bushings in.. hope this helps papa If you click on search and enter pan hard bar you will get more info on this .. |
Re: rear control arm??
panhard bar, or track bar, first one is more correct

Re: rear control arm??
I just changed mine. I installed a NEOPRENE set. I bought mine from a local classic Chevy store but I also found them on the Auto Zone web site, they cost about $10. They come with a lubricant that helps you to install them easily and they are more ridgid the regular rubber giving you a more solid feel. I sure like how solid my rear suspension feels now.

Re: rear control arm??
if the rear is lowered, the neopren bushings are a good idea.
The others have you set though... I just wanted to welcome you to the board there Dave. Told you this place was huge didn't i? |
Re: rear control arm??
Where do you get replacement bushing and what do you call them?
tracking or panhard? |
Re: rear control arm??
You can find the track arm bushings on-line or even try your local autoparts store. even bring that picture you have to show them exactly what your looking for. I've done it a few times myself.

Re: rear control arm??
How do you get the old bushings out, if you don't have a press? I'm trying to replace mine. A BFH didn't work. Thanks, ED7C20.

In the picture above the bolt connecting the bar to the differential I was wondering how the bushing attaches. Does it stay out and away from the differential? It looks like in the picture that the bushing runs along the edge of the bolt my question is what keeps it there the ridge on the bolt or does it need a washer to keep it there.
