Wiring harness tape ?
Everyone,
I am redoing the wiring in my truck and need to re wrap the the original wiring harnesses. I have done a bit of digging and have come up with references to dry vinyl tape as well as some selfadhering stuff. Seems to me that the plain old black electrical tape gets brittle and looses its stick after a period of time. I want this job to last the the next 36 years as the first job did. What have you used, where did you get it and how is it holding up? Thanks for your input! |
Re: Wiring harness tape ?
I bought some at Lowes or off the wiring stand at auto parts store, not advance or auto zone, but car quest, NAPA or AutoValue/ Big A/ Bumper to Bumper- think it was bumper to bumper, but it was as original fabric tape faded black in color not too sticky. Hope this helps, Harold

Re: Wiring harness tape ?
I really like the 3M rubber splicing tape. It is self vulcanizing and really protects the harness. Here's a link for reference:

Re: Wiring harness tape ?
I use the black friction tape. Not plain old shiny electrical tape. This stuff is dull in sheen, rougher texture. It's meant for just this purpose.
You can get it at any hardware store. |

You can get friction tape at Ace Hardware
