Questions about a '72
I just purchased a '72 SB from my little brother. I have a ton of questions that I need to ask before I start in on it. I'm stationed in Hawaii, the truck is in Colorado. I'm not going to bring it here.(rust) So here are the questions:
1. If I'm going to switch to a '67 hood, what needs changed with it? 2. Is fuel injection a straight forward conversion and where is the best place to get information on it? 3. Where is the best place to ask about side draft intakes for Fuel Injection? There are more questions that I have but I'm trying to take care of the big money items first. If anyone has any information about this stuff it will be greatly appreciated. |
Re: Questions about a '72
To get a 67 hood, you will need an entire front clip. 67-68 fenders, hood, grill, and core support. And welcome to the boards.

Re: Questions about a '72
Well, I can answer the first question. The whole front end needs to be changed. The hood, fenders, radiator support, and grille. hope this helps.

Re: Questions about a '72
Thank you for the info. I'm deploying later in the year and I want to
get a surplus of parts while I'm away to do the work on leave. I'm sure I'll have more questions later. |
Re: Questions about a '72
Fuel injection swap... that all depends on your level of mechanical ability.
For some, it's simple. For others... it'll cause pulling out there own hair, lots of cussing, and then the sale of an incomplete object. I would say it is a solid 8 - 9 out of ten on difficulty level. you'll need to know electrical work, some fab work, some modification, the general knowledge of swapping stuff around, and even exhaust work. On top of all that, you'll need to know your local smog laws, becouse by the letter of the federal laws, that 72 will require to meet the smog levels of the donor that gave up it's engine. |
