Old ... New again

I have the old 2 peice drive shaft out of a 67 LWB truck. It's been under the house since I bought the 71 back in 1986. I had it in the 71 truck for a little while as I was having the 71 shaft cut for the 700-R4 mod.
This shaft isn't cut yet but I plan on doing it soon. I called the other day to the local shop and for the 3" cut and all new unerversal's with new heavy duty carrier bearing & speed balanced it was gong to be $165.00 + tax.

I like this bearing and think I may order it Monday.:metal:

Website doesn't give a price though, anybody know how much they are?
I'm trying to get things done to the truck for a special trip this summer with my son. That's another post later on.

i just posted info on this carrier today in another post. summit has it for about $133. dad has had one in a 77 for about 5-6 years and it's built tough.

Re: Old ... New again

$133.00 is almost as much as I'm paying for a complete rebuild for the shaft. I'm just not seeing that kind of money in a D/D truck. The one in it know has been under it since the 90"s. :chevy:

I run that bearing on my ride. Its worth the money and youll never have to worry about failure. Classic Performance Parts is where I got mine. I think its warrantied 4 life. And I do drive the crap out of mine.
