Late Model Rearend in 67-72 Trucks

Has anyone swapped a rearend out of a 99 and up GMC/Chevy pickup into on of our trucks? I know perches for the coil spring will have to be added, but is the 6 lug wheel pattern the same? And are the lengths the same? Any help in this will be greatly appreciated.

had a 80's one ton rear in my '70. but was an 8 lug.

From my memory... might not be accurate:

the WMS-WMS of chevy SRW rears is between 62" and 69"

IIRC the front axles of our trucks are around 67", so a newer rear will hurt your tires due to a ruined track width.
BUT... you can space your tires however you want with different backspacings and wheel spacers to regain your track width.

getting wider as they get older.
62"ish in the late 50's
64"ish into the 70's
67"ish into the early 90's
69"ish lately
