Seat Options ??????????????
Does anyone know of other seats we can put in our trucks? I hear the 2000 blazer seats fit perfectly, does anyone have pics? If you have different seats, or simply not the original, can you send pics and what vehicle served as the donor?
Thanks, Rigo |
Re: Seat Options ??????????????
Someone on here put Cadillac STS seats in and they looked awesome. I have seen lots of 00-07 Chevy full size seats installed and they look nice as well.

Re: Seat Options ??????????????
the nice bonus to installing the later chevy truck seats is that they have the seat belt built in to the seat itself also.

Re: Seat Options ??????????????
You have to be real carefull on seat selection.
I consider myself to be average size for my age... 6 foot, 200 pounds... and a little bit of a dew belly. I find the cabs to be slightly cramped. However, if you add a seat that has a thick seat back, it kills space quick. Every inch lost, feels like 2 inches. Plus, if the seat is tall, then you'll either have to have the seat backe very verticle, or, slide the seat forward. As for the seat belts built into the seats... I hope you guys are dooing something to keep the seat from ripping out through the floor in an accident. The points where the seat bolt in were not designed to support that kind of load. I wish I could tell you what my seats came in. They are Bostrom seats, like what come in work trucks (P/30, C/6500 ect) that have been converted or added onto. I got them off e-bay a few years ago and they are awesome. I have a kerfagled back, so seats are VERY important to me. Most new cars aren't compliant with my lower back (ESP those 99 - 07 chevy seats). These have a thin back, so I have more leg room, I mounted them a little lower than stock, and tilted to the back a bit, which makes them very comfortable for me. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...m/100_0054.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...m/100_0052.jpg I am considering checking to see if stock truck seat covers will go on them and if so, putting them in the suburban covered in solid white vinal, then going back to a stock truck bench (tilted back a tad) in this one. |
Re: Seat Options ??????????????
Like Andy said about mounting them so they don't rip out.....or punch through. In a frontal accident a seat with integrated belts will tend to rotate and the front seat mounts will try to punch their way downward deforming or even punching through the floor

Re: Seat Options ??????????????
I went to Lowes and got a piece of c-iron 2 inches wide and cut them four inches long, drilled a hole and placed them on the botton of the cab floor for added support and bracing. The front two pieces for the outside front bolts had to be drilled a little off center to aline up with the original bracket.
This is what I did to support the new seats. It is true there is a lot less room so you have to decide if the trade is worth it. I am thinking it will be but if not I still have the bench seat and can replace it later. |
Re: Seat Options ??????????????
Guys,
I am 6'2 and 205#s. I am at a loss. I like the trailblazer seats, but i want to keep the stock height! I really dont like it when you can see the seat through the rear window. In my personal opinion it looks tacky and deforms the whole cab. I will continue to look..... |

88 later style bench seats work nice. Mines a 60/40 that I cut down the mounting brackets so the seat back was below the back window.

I'm temporarily using these out of an 86 Chevy quad cab. These are the rear seats but, from what I remember, the front were the same except they had the head/neck rest and were worn more. Very comfortable.
Also, I took the rails off an old bench seat I had and mounted them on this one. |
Re: Seat Options ??????????????

Re: Seat Options ??????????????
That is a good point about needing extra bracing on the integrated belt seats. I was debating cutting some large 1/8" pieces of plate steel and welding them on the under side of the cab at each attachment point for extra strength. Currently I have no belts though so anything is better than what I got.
