Cylinder sleeve and missing oil rings

I have a .060 over 327 that I am dead set on using. It was bored out, used for not long and then set to the side to get dirty. I recently pulled it apart and am just going to hone the cylinders and put it back together and noticed the number 1 cylinder had been sleeved. ANyone have any experience with how these hold up? Also on cylinders 1 and 2 they left one of the oil control rings off. I would have thought it to be forgot but they left the same one off both cylinders. Is there a reason for this?

If sleeves are properly installed there should be no problems with them.

No clue on the oil rings but I would put oil rings on the pistons if I were you.

Agreed that the resleeve should be ok.

No idea on the missing rings either.

Never can tell what you will find when you tear down an engine thou. One time during bike week in Daytona my Harley's oil pump shaft broke. The bike was overheating, but air cooled motorcycles get pretty hot in Florida in heavy traffic so I didn't suspect a major issue right away. When it stopped and wouldn't start I had a buddy come get me in his truck. We tore the top end off in the camp ground and found the compression rings had broken in to pieces and the pistons got so hot that they distorted and let the ring pieces stack two and three high in the grooves! No body could believe the engine didn't lock up with major damage. New oil pump, pistons, rings and over bore and it ran like a champ!
