Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>
Pictures tell the story... How much do you think this haywagon weighs? I know it had this coil spring C10's undivided attention - Pennsylvania ain't flat!

Re: Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>
... You guys cheated, you have side rails on the hay rack so the load does not fall apart coming out of the field.;)
I was very content when I was sweating and bailing hay as a kid. great pictures. life is good, kent |
Re: Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>

Some of those shots look like they could have come out of a 72 Brochure from Chevy. Very nice

One fine truck, one fine barn and a beautiful day in the Keystone State.

Re: Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>
I like the one with the guy holding the communication wire up to clear the top bail.
Straight looking truck, it's like >picture< purfect. |
Re: Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>
That is a pretty nice truck. Wish my work truck was half as nice as that one.

Re: Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>
prairewolf is right, side rails is cheating. I bailed a lot of hay and straw over the years, never having sides on the wagons.

Re: Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>

Re: Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>
I feel my hay fever kicking in already. We used a '79 Chevy heavy 1/2 ton for our hay hauling truck, with an 18 foot flatbed gooseneck...man we put that thing through its paces. Of course I didn't develop my allergy to the stuff until I didn't have to haul it anymore.
Great pics. Thanks for sharing. |
Re: Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>
3.73 is the perfect performance/towing gear for a 1/2 ton. an overdrive trans is the only thing needed if you do a lot of highway driving. my 72 burb 3/4 ton has 4.57 gears that will be swapped out for 4.10 and i will be adding an overdrive. that truck is too beautiful to be used in such a manner, and yet it is gratifying to see a nice old truck still doing what GM intended all along. if the engine ever needs replacing....go with a 383....you will get more power for the same gas mileage. i bought my burb for towing trailers as much as gracing the show scene....only way to rationalize a vehicle that isn't an economical ho hum daily driver type.

Re: Here's a '71 still working for a living - <lots of pics>
THANKS A LOT!:cuss: I just shorted out my keyboard drooling over that fabulous 71! As someone has already mentioned, those pics really look like they're out of a Chevy truck sales brochure. I want that truck. I will trade you 100 bucks, a nine year old female cat and a S&W 9MM Automatic for it. OK?
