285/70/15?
here's what I'm working with
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...9/DSC01585.jpg I want to fill the wheel well with rubber. The truck has 235/70/15 on the 15x8 rallys. I have found the Coker Tire BFG Silvertowns in the 285/70/15 for the rear. I think I'm gonna go with a 255/70 for the front. my questions are 1. does anyone have these on their truck? 2. might I run into a problem with the 8 inch rim? |
Re: 285/70/15?
The 285/70/15 looks tough on fleetside trucks. It fits great on an 8" wheel.
I would suggest leaving the 235/70/15 on the front. The 255 can look a tad bulky if it's lowered any. |
Re: 285/70/15?
thanks for the info. the truck is lowered, I just dont know how much.

Re: 285/70/15?
I have the 285/70/15's all the way around. I would go with it on the rear but not on the front with it being lowered.

Do they make a 275/60-r15 in that tire? It should be really close to the fronts you already have. I'm running them out back and 235/70/15's on the front.

Re: 285/70/15?
I have 275/60/15 on 10 inch wheels all the way around and dont have ne problems and its lowered i had 325 on the rear with no problems

Re: 285/70/15?
285/70's are almost 31" tall.
It would look cool if you have a 4wd truck with these on all 4 wheels. On your truck, no! Maybe go with 275/60's to give it a little more width and a different look. |
Re: 285/70/15?
as it sits there (if its even relevent), the front is 29.5 in. high and the rear is a hair over 31.5. My only problem with a 275/60 is that its the exact same sidewall as what I have, I'd only be getting a wider tire. I'm looking for more sidewall. A 275/70 would be nice, but I havent found it.

Re: 285/70/15?
Here's a link to Orange's truck before he lowered it and put lower profile rubber on it. It's stock hieght with 255/70/15 front and 285/70/15 rear.
http://slickorange.com/exterior.shtml Also you could try a search on Radman. His truck has the same size tires but with a 4/6 drop. |
Re: 285/70/15?
where can a 285/70/15 be bought?
|
Re: 285/70/15?
Why don't you go to a 17" rim? You could always sell the rallye's. Just my .02

Re: 285/70/15?
I've got 285/70/15's BFG's on the back of my 69, with a 2/4 drop it really fills the wheel wells nicely. the bed is off right now for body work so no pics

I don't think 15 in wheels will do what you want. I used 17's and they almost fill the wells using 285-60VR17's on the rear and 255-60VR17's on the front.

Re: 285/70/15?

Now to enter my own opinion. 15" rims with some meat on them just looks right. could be I've been looking at these trucks too long, but that is the look that's right for me. I see some trucks with modern diameter wheels (within reason) that look very nice to me and I'm all for others doing as they please. But there will never be anything wrong with sticking with 15s. And for me that is the sure thing looks great forever wheel. |
