Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
Don't think I've ever seen this rare "FACTORY" 5 lug on a 65;)http://lexington.craigslist.org/pts/1522284731.html
I do like the old ET Rockets! Had a set on my 64 Impala back in the 80's. |
Re: Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
As a fellow kentuckian who happens to be working on one of these trucks, I would have to say that truck looks to be prime fodder for a restoration. Definitely appears too solid for a parts truck. However you never know until you get a better look.

Re: Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
I wouldn't mind having it, but money tree hasn't bloomed here for quite awhile. Figure maybe somebody on here would be interested.
Sharpsburg isn't too far from me, might try to look you up sometime, when I'm over that way. |
Re: Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
I don't think there was an option for a 5 lug 4.3/4 bolt pattern on a 65...............Specially with 4.3/4 bolt pattern..........

Re: Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
5 x 4 3/4.....? sounds shady to me.

Re: Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
Negative Ghostrider...pattern is full. There is no published GM literature indicating an option for five lug hubs on the '60-'66 Chevy/GMC trucks in the 10 Series. Run Forest Run.

Re: Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
copy that , no fly bye and no 5x4.75 bolt patern on full size truck
most likley he bought it already converted the no title, could be a pain |
Re: Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
the 5 lug rear and front hubs had to come from a factory......just not on that truck

So either the guy isn't a 60-66 truck history guru or he got all of us hook, line and sinker. Fact is for most buyers the 5 lug pattern is a positive selling point, he was smart to mention it. And his "Factory" comment got it posted here and talked about. I think the saying about "There is no bad publicity" applies. Caviat Emptor Gentlemen |

Obviously the man is a marketing genius.

Re: Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
If I had a nickel every time I saw an item like this on eBay, referencing a "rare", "factory", "nice for it's age", "rust-free for it's age" and other false statements, I would be a rich man.
How about the "$20K", frame-off restoration, "no expense spared" truck, that has knobs missing on the heater bezel or mismatched knobs on the dash or the interior door handles missing, excessive use of wire tires or wire holding up the exhaust. I am not being picky, just funny how someone will spend that kind of money to do 95% of the project and leave out the last 5% of details. |
Re: Found this on Lexington Ky CL "rare option"
Way back when these trucks were only a couple of body styles old I remember seeing the parts list to do the 5 bolt drum conversion as I recall the parts came from a mid 60 s stn wagon so maybe this guy really thinks it's factory it was prolly done 30+ years ago if it is a 5 bolt drum brake truck
Back the the six bolt wheel selection was pretty slim:uhmk: |
