E36 bucket seats and review

mid late 3 series bmw i guess are known as E36? didn't want to put bmw in the title. i got these seats a while ago and got them installed over x-mas.
since my bench was a mess . i also was hoping for some extra leg room. i thought these were thin enough to give me some, but alas no.
during my initial fitting i figured i would need a 2" boost to bring them to the same height as the bench seat. while doing the install i decided to just put them on the floor for now, and the while they are a little low their not too bad( i be 6'2"). getting in and out is a little easier. i may get a inch or two more leg room after i take out the tank( the bottom of the seat hits it before the top of the back). i don't kow if I'll keep them because if something else better shows up i may jump on it. but for now i'm not too disappointed.

Personally I would take the head rests off so it won't look funny from the back, but over all I like it. Now you can put in an extra big center console. :metal:

^ Agreed, would look better without the headrest.

If you think about it you will get a little more legroom if you raise them up a few inches.

I understand the comments about how the headrests look, but if someone hit me from behind I would rather have my head hit the headrest instead of the back window. "Head restraint" is a better term for it than head rest.

exactly. it is a game of inches. but before i raise them up i'll drive with them a while.
and i agree with removing the head rest, but there is the thought of my skull breaking the rear window in a collision. ahh what heck i'm old anyways.

How did you mount these? Did you drill any extra holes?

I think the headrest will look fine from behind. It will look like a truck with headrests, that`s all.No less original than a cowl hood or rallye wheels.I bet they`re comfortable.

I'm assuming you didn't pull them out of your own car? I had an E36 (97') M3 and never really liked the seats. They made my back hurt after more than about an hour in the car. Might want to keep looking for something before you get too carried away. Just my .02, take it or leave it. They do look nice though!

had to drill all new holes. but that was fast and easy. re-enforced the floor with some flat stock.
