Bed Installation
I have another question concerning the beds.
What is the preferred way to install the bed? I'm thinking I need to completely assemble the bed on the frame to ensure it can be squared up, holes aligned with the sills and all hoes drilled in the wood. Then disassemble the bed, prime and paint all the areas too hard to reach when the bed is assembled and installed, including the exterior of the front panel and the interior of the bed. I would also make sure to paint the areas of the parts that overlap with each other, like the top corners of the front panel where it bolts to the sides, for instance. Then, I would assemble the bed separate from the truck. The bolts could be just snugged then do the final alignment and tighten the bolts after it is placed on the frame. Sound like a plan? |
Re: Bed Installation
When I did mine I removed it from the truck, and assembled it on saw horses, squared it up, fit the wood, then removed the wood and finished it then painted the inside of the bed and front panel. After everything was dry I put it all back together on the saw horses and then moved it back to the truck where it fit perfectly. If you follow mar-k's instructions you can't really go wrong.
