questions about the elimination of EEC canister in 72

i want to eliminate the eec canister in my 72 cheyenne during my restoration. i know the fuel cap needs to be changed to a vented one.

my questions are...
1- can i use my original tank, and neck?
2- do i need new single tube sending unit ?
3- do i run only (1) fuel line from tank to carb ? and what size ?
4- will the new vented cap fit my factory 1972 tank?
5-after change, can i eliminate the in cab wall vent line?

thanx in advance... dave

1. Yes you can use your original tank.

2. No you do not need a single tube sending unit.

3. Yes only 1 line and either 5/16 or 3/8 line depending on what engine you have you can use your line that is feeding your fuel pump now, unless it is rusted and has holes in it.

4. I am using my orginal cap and I have had no issues, because it is a vented system already, that is what the extra line is going up into the cab.;)

5. You can but why worry about it? You can't see it and mine never smells the cab up, so I don't really see the need to pull it out.;)

Hope this helps!!

I couldn't have said it better myself B&B.

When I was redoing my fuel system in my 1972 I even took out all the Evap lines that ran along the frame rails, and blocked them off at the tank. Still have the original filler neck, have a stock unvented cap, and left the stuff in the cab and door jamb alone. No sweat... :)
