Lifting a Lowered Truck
 

The search engine isn't working for me. So I will ask the question.

I purchased a '67 SWB that was already lowered. Last year when i started driving it the front tires were rubbing on the inner fender wells, so I put smaller tires on the front to fix this. It has long headers on it that go under the front crossmember, now I find that the collector part of the headers when I drive over any dip in the road or speed bump rub the ground.(actually broke a bolt) There is about 2-3" of clearance as it sits. Is there any low dollar way to fix this.

I know I can change the exhaust but I would actually like to lift it a couple inches. Would different springs work?

The pic doesn't do it justice, it is lower than the picture looks. The bumper hits the ground when backing out of the driveway onto the road.

yes, you can put different springs to raise it back up. it probably has dropped spindles as well

so it probably has 2 1/2 dropped spindles and 3 inch drop springs..... as thats looks like a 5 /7 static drop to me. others will chime in

Does it have lowering blocks between the rear trailing arms and the rear axle? What tire sizes are you running front/rear? Different springs will solve the problem in the front, we just have to figure out what's in there now. I do agree with my67chevytruck - that looks like at least a 5/7. If it has a lowering block in back you can take it out and use a taller spring in front. What is the measurement from the wheelwell to the ground on level pavement? They will help determine the amount of drop you have.

It looks just about the way My67Chevytruck described it. That is there are a combination of things done to get it that low.

First you need to figure out how it was lowered and then figure out how much you want to raise it back up and go from there.

I'd go with changing springs as that would be the least expensive and fairly simple to do. You might end up trying more than one set of springs to get it where you want (or need ) it to sit before you are done though.

It has drop spindles on the front, however the rear has been converted to leaf springs, it looks like a stock bracket on the front part of the leaf but the rear is a homemade shackle. I can't remember the size of tires on the front( I think P205/55/17), but the rear are P235/75/17.
Also if I wanted to change the headers to some type of block huggers, which is the best way to go.

Is the axle sitting on top of the leaf spring pack or below it? If you can find a stock leaf spring shackle that may give you an inch or two, depending on how for the 'homemade' shackle was meant to drop it.

Thanks guys.:metal: I think I may just change the exhaust to go over the crossmember that will probably fix the drag except for big ones. I do like the stance, and it will probably cost close to the same.

yeah you could put some shorty headers on it or stock manifolds. Really like the way it looks.
