What trim level is required for the "fancy" tailgate?
I really prefer the tailgate with the fake woodgrain and the GMC letters rather than the big GMC embossed right into the steel (just a personal preference).
In GMCs, what trim level do you have to get in order to have that and what year did it start? For a while I thought its had to be a Sierra, but I've seen Sierras without it, and here's a 1971 1500 Custom with it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GREEN...item414dec347d So I'm a little confused on what's what... |
Re: What trim level is required for the "fancy" tailgate?
I will take a guess at it. I am thinking 1970 for the gmcs to have that. (69 for the chevs) Would have the sierra or CST package. (or grande or super) The e-bay one i don't think is correct for that truck. It has the tail light chrome, but no matching parts on the gate. My guess is that is a chevy gate with a band on it...

The only trucks that should not have the upper and lower thin pieces of chrome were the solid color trucks. If the truck was a two standard (color with a white top) or deluxe (white, color, white, color) they got the upper and/or lower division trim- the lower should only be in place if the truck was not a sierra/grande or cheyenne/super (i.e deluxe or super deluxe).
