What to do with so-so original parts???

I'm kinda just throwing this out to see what others opinions are. I have a few body panels that aren't perfect, but also are decent enough where a body man could make repairs pretty easily (I'm NOT a body man!). Things like doors, a hood, foggy but uncracked windshield, tailgate, etc. I don't have much indoor storage due to trying to restore my Blazer, and I know if I leave this stuff outside it is just going to continue to rot away. So what should I do? I know I will feel guilty if I take everything to the scrap yard, but I'm already tired of tripping over it around my house. I guess I could post a "free parts" ad here on the board, but this stuff is big and couldn't be shipped. I haven't had any luck with locals coming by to get stuff in the past. What do you guys think, should I feel bad about throwing it away.

Craigslist? I would feel bad too, you know somebody somewhere would be happy to pay you for your old parts:cool:

I have two GMC grilles hanging in my garage.... might do that with a fender too. But on the bulkier parts I agree...post a free ad on craigslist (not on the free section...on the auto parts section....and they shouldn't last long....

make some garage wall art out of the tailgate... agree with the posts above on giving it away if it's not useable..

I just gave away a fender with a ding on it on CL. The guy who got was very happy to have it. Good Truck Karma.

I'll be glad to come by and pick up whatever you'd like to get rid of. I'd hate to see it go to scrap, and I can store them indoors, and if the tailgate is in better condition than mine, it would be a sweet deal.

PM me if you'd like me to come pick up some or all of the parts

Look at the trucks I build. Guys like me use cast off parts as our bread and butter building blocks.

Somewhere, someone wants your parts. In this world, there is a butt for every seat. Try Craigslist. San Antonio has a pretty hopping one.

I have the opposite dilemma .I have a very nice tailgate the same color as my truck but in shiny condition and my truck is all faded paint and rust . Its just too nice to go on it ,and Im not sure I want to make the truck as nice as the tailgate. I really like the patina look, although I will eventually replace the rocker panels. I may do as suggested above and hang it on the wall if I can find a spot for it among the chevelle parts already hanging on the walls. I guess this is a good problem to have.

Thanks guys, I pretty much agree on all accounts. The hell-of-it is I always have, and always will be, working on something, most likely one of these trucks. So this blazer isn't the first or the last. In other words, I will eventually need more parts, but I know myself. To me the thrill is hunting the junkyards and alleys for perfect original equipment. I will probably have more of this sort of stuff laying around in the years to come! My main problem is I don't have a lot of free time to shuttle and move big stuff around like I would like, the swapmeets would be perfect otherwise.

This sound's like the way to go. I will PM you in a couple days/weeks when I have a moment to round everything up.

By the way everyone, there is NO WAY I could have thrown half of this decent stuff away, but sometimes I get to my wits end and consider it.

I`d sell them.I`d rather repair an original part that fits. The foggy windshield is no good.
