Re: Finding a Needle....

I have my Arizona '69 plate for the front of my '69, although it's a car plate.

But, my ex married a guy who was a collector of license plates. He died, and she has some of his stuff. One of them is a plate that says "EX HIPPY". At a collectors convention, Dr. Timothy Leary was there and he signed it. Dr. Leary's dead, now. Don't know if signing it killed him or if it was all that LSD he experimented with.

I found one like that on an old '55 Panel in a JY a few months ago, unfortunately the owner wouldn't let it part from it. The panel used to be his friends and once he passed, he inherited the truck.

Nice fine Geoff!

Kind of like the plate I have on my '69.

Nice find Geoff! I saw a 69 NC Dealer's plate on ebay a couple of weeks ago, but the number sequence on yours is perfect!

One other note on the NC license plate laws: I have a copy of the law that states the requirements to run vintage plates. I keep a copy in my glove box with my "real plate" in case I ever get pulled over. Also, it does not say anything about the vintage plate having to be from North Carolina. I thought that was interesting.

Donald....I'm sure you know but are those car plates??...I think for NC plates the numbers are first then the letters for truck plates??...Either way...do they have any significance???

Re: Finding a Needle....

Just old 71 & 72 NC plates I thought I would clean up and stick on the shop wall.71 was on a 71 cheyenne I bought for parts a few years ago.Tree fell across the cab and crushed it when only 6 months old.I don't know if it was registered to the truck but I bought the truck from and old farmer who told me he bought it new.I don't know about the older plates but all 3 72s I have registered right now have the letters first and then the numbers.

Why do you think I kept the 'ol sixer... it won't go over 55. "I can't drive (over) 55...!!!!"

Actually the powerslide does pretty well and will allow the truck to go well over 55.

Yes, and I put that crap back down immediately!

(There really were "restored" plates at one vendor from $450-$500 at the show...)
