Lift Blocks ?
I have a '71 4x4 burb, and I wanted to do a mild lift...like 2 inches, but I dont wanna do a body lift. Is there any lift blocks I could use on front and back to raise it a bit?

Re: Lift Blocks ?
Do a body lift before front lift blocks.
Any reason not wanting to do a body lift? IT is safer than frnt lift blocks. The cheapest way is to make longer shackles for the front and lift blocks in the rear. The best way would be to buy the front springs and either get new spring for the rear to or use lift blocks on the back. |
Re: Lift Blocks ?
I think Rancho used to make a 2 1/2" lift for our trucks. You may contact Randy (Teeitup) as I believe he has that lift on his 67' 4x4. I don't know if they still carry it or not. Trevor

Re: Lift Blocks ?
Blocks on the front are a no-no... lift springs aren't all that expensive for the front.

Re: Lift Blocks ?
Another NO vote for blocks in the front... and frankly, I've never been a fan of longer shackles either.
Skyjacker also makes 2 1/2" Softride front springs. |

Re: Lift Blocks ?
To clarify... I grew up in the Sixties, and a lot of kids used shackles to lift the rear of their cars. Aside from poor structural strength (which I never thought about at the time), it seemed like the springs would begin to sag after the shackles were installed.

Re: Lift Blocks ?
You can use what is called a zero rate block. It is an "add-a-leaf" that doesn't change the spring rate. It bolts into the leaf pack using a longer center bolt. Most are 1" and you could do a 1" longer shackle which would net you 1 1/2" lift.

Re: Lift Blocks ?
Front lift blocks... BAD
Longer shackles... eh, they're OK "Zero Rate"... good option, but still add leverage to the stock spring Body lift... not a fan unless you need a little more lift on top of an already big lift ...Just get front lift springs;) |
