Brake booster on an inline 6?
Alright, I want a little more (easier) stoppage power on my brakes but I don't want to spend alot. I want to know if it matters, and if it's possible to install any, or a specific brake booster on my '67.
The truck has the stock 250 Inline 6 with the stock Intake Manifold etc.. What all exactly would I have to buy, and would it hook up to my old intake? Also, can I buy just any brake booster, or does it have to be specific? Take this one for example: ![]() Well? |
Re: Brake booster on an inline 6?
I don't know about specific boosters, but overall it's a fairly simple swap. You will have to get the longer pushrod (changing that was the toughest part) and an off-set air filter or one of the small aftermarket units. Your brake lines will be too short to hit the prop valve correctly. I straightened mine out until they reached, but they looked dumb. If I did it again ( I have all new PB brake lines now for my build) I would find a couple of 6'' extentions for the lines.

Re: Brake booster on an inline 6?
I'm running ECE booster on my six silly and it works great stops as well as our 04 chevy truck no bs. the inliners make enough vacuum to get the job done real happy with it! best of luck, Pat

So you think I could install this on it? http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...ts+%26+Mirrors
It says it fits for my truck, and comes with the hardware. Will it work good for drums? |
Re: Brake booster on an inline 6?
It does say it is an exact fit for a 67 GMC with 6 cylinder.

You will still need a bracket unless you want to mount it straight to the firewall like a van. you would need to make your own rod but we sell all the parts for that to. We sell the exact same setup (reman from Cardone) for less and only a $20.00 core charge our price is $120.00 for a loaded booster. Shipping is like $14.00 in stock If you want we can set you up any brake booster combo you want using new parts to for even less |
Re: Brake booster on an inline 6?
I just want everything I'll need to convert using the brake booster, while keeping my drum's. If it's possible I'd like to use the same master cylinder. If I keep the master cylinder, what EXACTLY will I need, and if you could bundle it altogether what price am I looking at?
