Kobalt tool box....help

ok....has anyone bought the Kobalt 112374 tool box from Lowes? This is the stainless one with the mini-fridge and Pioneer stereo.

Anyway; two of us here each bought one of them and we get no sound out of either one. The stereo lights up...tunes to a station (or plays a CD) but no sound. With the remote we've toggled MUTE on and off and tried just about everything but no luck. Kobalt customer service is a circular reference joke where the store gives you the customer service number and that goes directly to a store locator (no human).

Any thoughts?

If you don't want to take it back. then I would start checking wires. make sure that the speakers are even hooked up.

maybe try pioneer customer service or crutchfield?

also, on the customer service line, try pushing 0 as soon as the computer starts or if it's voice activated I just say help and it generally connects me with a human...

Ever try loud profanity when the computer options come on and ask for voice options? Try it. I do it all the time aprox half of the time when I start cussing it will say "Please stay on the line while we connect you to a customer service representative", or something along the those lines.
